Families with kids of all ages are invited to the second annual Winter Carnival at our Sunnyside Church location at 3520 SE Yamhill St (across from Sunnyside Park). This fundraiser will help keep the Church open, heated, and maintained for all of us to enjoy.
The Winter Carnival will take place in the gym from 3-8pm with carnival treats, games, face painting, rock climbing wall, prize booth, and free play juggling area organized by DO JUMP!, Children’s Club and the Sunnyside Swap Shop Co-op. Pad Thai and other Asian delights will be served by the Multicultural Support Center from 5-7pm.
DO JUMP! entertainment will include students and teachers on stilts, trapeze, and aerial rope and fabric.
There is no entrance fee for this event. Game and food tickets can be purchased for 50cents a ticket. Games are one or two tickets each and food items are 50 cents to $4.50.
Enter up the ramp on the eastern side of the building. Follow the signs and balloons.
This is big indoor fun in the heart of winter for a great cause! Spread the word and let’s raise funds for a great community building!
TIPS FOR HAVING A GOOD TIME:
With toddlers: Last year’s biggest toddler magnet was the play hut in the center of the gym – a cool, calm place to pour corn kernels cup to cup that is amazingly fascinating to our littlest guests. Your child may or may not “get” the carnival games but everyone wins a prize for trying and you get to see what your child likes most – both in games and prizes.
With preschoolers and school age kids: We’ve been asking for prize donations throughout January and an amazing collection of toys large and small are waiting for your child to earn at the games and trade at the prize table. If and when they get all gamed out, the rock wall is open and a large area set aside for juggling with DoJump – a very fun place to be.
To eat: The Multicultural Center donates their amazing Pad Thai and egg rolls for this event served starting at 5pm for as long as they last (hopefully until 7pm). Lots of home baked sweet treats, pink lemonade and popcorn available 3pm – 8pm.
