The easiest restaurant you will ever take your kids too . . . 5:30-7 in The Roost.
Jason is making his cooking debut (one week before he kicks of Kungfu for adults in our gym).
He’s doing the real work for all of us . . . hand making tamales (pork or pumpkin) and cooking up a big pot of vegetarian black bean soup (served spicy or mild) offered up with horchata (Mexican sweet rice drink) and cookies to satisfy everybody’s sweet tooth along with mini quesadillas and a side of carrots for the kids.
He’s got a lot of mouths to feed in his family so he knows the value of an affordable meal:
• 2 Tamales – $3 • Cup of soup – $2 • Kid’s quesadilla plate – $2 •Horchata and cookies – $1 each
Best selection on take out and eat in food if you come early. Bring your own containers for to-go.
Roost and Gym are open for free play 6-9pm.
Saturday Night Dinner Theater with Renee of Chica Y Los Gatos 6-7pm:
I was going to miss this Saturday’s performer and was super excited to find out I’ll be in town after all to enjoy another evening with Renee of Chica Y Los Gatos. I’d be out in the clubs enjoying her Indy Pop vibe if I could stay out that late (and get a sitter) but instead, she comes to us nice and early in the evening with her original numbers, talented guitar licks and a few fun kid favorites (like Rubber Ducky) and old Beatles tunes.
If you ever want to hear what she sounds like without toddlers to entertain, she has been playing jazz with a saxophone player at Petite Provence on NE Alberta and 18th every Friday night from 6 to 8pm for people to listen to for free while they eat. I understand it’s a good family friendly place.
