I am super happy to report that somebody (that somebody being cool and hip Oregonian Daniel Caplan) is working hard to open a new gym just two blocks from our co-op. To my utter delight, Daniel’s workout gym runs pretty much just like our Swap Shop. There’s a code keypad on the front door, pay-as-you-go [...] Co-op member Dana Buhl’s massage studio is walking distance from the Swap Shop. You can schedule a deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, or couples massage lesson. She also teaches baby massage and practices CranioSacral therapy – a gentle form of manipulating the membranes and fluid that support the brain and spinal chord to ease migraines and tension headaches, jaw tension and dysfunction, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, sinus issues and even low back pain. $65 hourly rate with a $5 discount if you walk or ride to her studio at 30th and Salmon. Appointments: Mon-Thurs noon – 8, Fridays 9:30 – 4. [...] Lawrence Convalescent Center is a small, locally-owned, family run intermediate care facility at 48th & Belmont. It only takes a minute to stop by the convalescent center for a visit. Gardening volunteers and people who want to volunteer with residents are always welcomed. While you are there, Chuck and his daughter Lisa, Don and his staff can give you great advice on services and resources that make some of the most challenging care decisions a lot more bearable.
