Seeking carnival volunteers!

ALL BUILDING WINTER CARNIVAL, SATURDAY, JAN 30TH 3-8: There are several valuable ways to pitch in before and during this event:

  1. Baked treats – brownies, cookies, cupcakes to sell in The Roost kitchen. Can be dropped off with Renee earlier in the week.
  2. Donating prizes for our prize booth. We already have a great collection of little prizes (but could always use more) and need a couple dozen large prizes that kids can trade up for: stuffed animals, cool toy vehicles, funky things like lava lamps. Drop off with Renee at The Roost or on the shoe shelf outside my office right across from the main enterance to the Swap Shop space.
  3. Event set up 1-3pm: The Saturday morning basketball group comes off the court by 1 and we have two hours to set up a juggling area, prize booth, our carnival games and assemble a cool wood play house in the center of the gym. Helping hands and people handy with the power drills are much appreciated.
  4. Booth operators: parents of younger kids have a hard time staying in one place to help run a booth. Parents and middle schoolers are needed for a basketball throw booth, fishing for prizes booth and the juggling area. Shifts: 3-4:30, 4:30-6 or 6-8
  5. Kitchen help: Our Roost kitchen coordinator Tanya Mead will have the kitchen ready for customers with great easy to serve treats and then she needs to be free for chase her toddler around the carnival. The Multicultural Center will run the kitchen and sell their amazing Pad Thai 5-7. Helpers needed to just sell drinks and treats 3-5 and 7-8.
  6. Clean up 8-9: Lots of hands make for light work as we put away carnival equipment and sweep up.

Anyone who shows up willing to pitch in will be put to work. It’s great to know we have a few people for each shift and task. If you know you can come and are fexible on time or task just let me know your available and I’ll let you know what is still most needed. If you have a set window of time or favorite role, send me an email so I know when you are coming and what you are doing (karenhery @ gmail.com)
